The times we are facing are unprecedented with the joys of technology and the transformation of the business (well in this case the ministers’) office. I remember about a decade ago, when we threatened (well at least it seemed like a threat) with the possibility of a paperless office. How could it be? We rolled our eyes, pretended to agree and secretly prayed that our files will not be taken away from us. But technology and time have taught us that “the sky is the limit”, or more so, “nothing is impossible”. We have very quickly moved from the open office space setting, to hot desking where you didn’t own a desk (you never did anyways) and so your pictures and ornaments had to go; to the reality of a virtual office and where the buzz word almost everywhere is the cloud! Even in our homes we have witnessed changes where encyclopaedias have now been morphed into the world wide web.
The introduction of the paperless office has injected a variety of different things, for example:
- Simplicity;
- Efficiency;
- Better security;
- Document management system;
- Templates & automation tools;
- More space;
- The introduction and innovation of various tools and systems which help manage the office online and arrive at solutions quicker, instead of searching through manual files and systems;
- And so much more!
I’m sure that you’ll agree that it’s much easier now to engage with clients and customers with the power of technology. I mean compare the typewriter (if you’re old enough to remember those) with the simple personal computer. I look back and wonder how people managed with very high and very wide filing racks.
The truth is: I am not the ancient of days and neither are you. If you do not move with the times you will become a fossil, perhaps even an ornament at a museum. The only being that doesn’t change is God; you have to change to get by! Even God expects us to change (transformation by His word – remember). So stop struggling and get with it. Don’t conform, transform!!!
